“The biggest boom” for animated content from Amazon, Apple, Hulu and especially Netflix

And studios are now struggling to keep up with a limited talent pool

Back in October I wrote about how Dreamworks’ reboot of She-Ra was a next-gen animation business case study, because of how heavily it was relying on Netflix for survival. Now, courtesy of The Information, we have multiple additional case studies about the boom in animation being driven by streaming services. And that boom is quickly hitting its limits with “studios struggling to keep up” with the demand, a trend that mirrors how studios are finding a limited pool of showrunners for “Peak TV” (which I wrote about in Newsletter #130), but for talent with an even narrower skillset (skilled animators with software skills).
